Indescribable!

By Louie Giglio

Reading  "Indescribable",  has given me a greater picture of who God is. In my finite mind, I always wondered how big God was, now I know; He is indescribable!

Quotes

"Astronomers believed there to be only around six thousand stars out there in the universe. But in more recent times, these figures have been blown right out of the water- and we've come to realize just how short their estimations fell.  Astronomers now believe there to be more stars in the visible universe than there are grains of sand on all the world's beaches and deserts. As it turns out, we're even smaller than we thought we were.  And our Creator God is far mightier than we ever imagined Him to be."

"The newest evidence suggests that there are somewhere between one hundred and two hundred billion galaxies in the universe, each of them containing hundreds of billions of stars." (Page 33)

"He is a God of extravagance - unimaginably glorious, completely off the charts of our understanding, and way beyond the powers of our description." (Page 47)

"If God is indescribable, where does that leave us? It leaves us walking more humbly than we've ever walked before - bowed at the thought of such a mighty and mysterious God.  It leaves us safe in the knowledge of His ultimate control - that the One who spoke these awe-inspiring, inconceivable wonders into being will never lose the plot or drop the ball.  And it leaves us pondering just how much He - this creative God of hidden wonders - has in store for those who've chosen to love and follow Him." (Page 48-49)

"And somewhere in the midst of it all is you, special among all of creation, made in the very image of God.  Stamped with divinity, and created in the likeness of God, you, too, were made by and for Jesus.  Thus, you have a voice in the chorus. A voice like no other because, unlike the stars, you have the capacity to know and love the Creator - and the choice to value Him above everything else He has made." (Page 80)

"It's overwhelming (and somewhat dehumanizing) to realize that there are close to seven billion or us alive on the planet at this moment. But before we think it's too much for God to know everything about every single one of us, we have to remember that there are more stars than that in just one arm of the Milky Way Galaxy.  In fact, the Milky Way contains hundreds of billions of stars, and our God put each one in its place. He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing (Isa. 40:26). It's crazy to think that God can name each of the stars. But what's more stunning is the He can call you by your name as well." (Page 179)
