Celebrate Recovery
By John Baker
This group study is for anyone struggling with issues like alcoholism, divorce, sexual abuse, codependency, domestic violence, drug or sexual addiction, food addiction, or gambling. In other words, it’s for all of us. God led me to this program during a time of deep hurt and anger after my husband was unfaithful. I didn’t even know what codependency was—I just felt like I was losing my mind. This program is free and truly life-changing.

This program is divided into four small booklets:
Booklet 1: Stepping Out of Denial into God's Grace.
Booklet 2: Taking an Honest and Spiritual Inventory.
Booklet 3: Getting Right with God, Yourself and Others
Booklet 4: Growing in Christ While Helping Others.

After seventeen years in a tumultuous marriage, my husband confessed to an affair. It felt like a knife went through my heart. Though our marriage was miraculously restored, the scars ran deep. I said, "I forgive you" but I couldn’t trust him anymore. My suspicions consumed me, and after four years of fighting, the marriage collapsed. Alone with my tears, books, music, and prayers, I hit my lowest point. Maybe that’s where you are now. If so, please know—there is hope. This project was born from that pain.
We separated for a month. Then, he invited me to a restaurant, and he asked me if I wanted him back. I said yes. He replied, “Then you have to get counseling.” I was shocked—he was the one who had the affair! But I agreed. A woman had already invited me to Celebrate Recovery. So I went. It was hard—but it changed everything.
My husband and I eventually enjoyed years of true love and healing. Then he was diagnosed with liver cancer. Given three months, God gave him three years. During that time, I learned to love him unconditionally—without judgment. I’m grateful we stuck it out long enough to experience our miracle.
If you’re hurting right now, I pray you take that first step toward healing. There is hope!
